Under Our Tree

9/29/08
Revised: 4/6/11
...
My friend says wait here
So I lie on the ground
Waiting for her, I hear not a sound

I wait just a while
Lying under our tree
The autumn leaves fall and gently blanket me

Now more time has passed
I jump up with a shiver
I'm surrounded by ice that had once been a river

I skate for miles
And yet see no end
I fear that I've forever lost my best friend

Hotter and hotter
The gray clouds disappear
Spring has sprung, but not with it's cheer

Now the ice is melting
I'm beginning to drown
The waves rush over me as I quickly sink down

There isn't much hope left
And I begin to choke
Just then the dream ends and I suddenly awoke

Back with my friend
Lying under our tree
I want no more dreams, this is where I should be
...

Love,
Jared
